About The Opportunity

The IT Manager will take a hands-on role in maintaining, upgrading, and managing our client’s software, hardware, and information networks, (including Data Centre and office network LANs). In addition to technical responsibilities, the role includes day-to day management of a UK-based team. 

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure & Security, this role will contribute to the operational success of their IT systems, ensuring smooth functionality and high availability. The IT Manager will ensure that the technology infrastructure runs efficiently, empowering staff and minimizing IT-related obstacles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day people management of the UK-based System Administration team, ensuring team performance and development. 
  • Lead the team in providing IT support via the ZenDesk IT Helpdesk system, ensuring efficient resolution of staff queries. 
  • Providing proactive day to day management and support for Internet related infrastructure, including servers, routers, switches, VPN tunnels and personal VPN tokens, firewalls, mobile devices, tablets, wireless internet (wireless access points), and backup systems, within mission critical environments. 
  • Managing, tracking and trouble-shooting issues, change controls, bespoke project rollouts and live fault escalations. 
  • Release management & patching practices need to be followed and adhered too 
  • Staff assistance and support for all IT system related queries (ZenDesk IT Helpdesk system) 
  • Maintaining a high level of availability of services and minimising the risk of exposure to system downtime through continual monitoring of key systems. 
  • Improving process development, documentation and knowledge dissemination.
  • Provision of out of hours support, with potential for on-call at some point.
  • Improving system & automating repetitive jobs.
  • Liaise closely with internal /external contacts to monitor and maintain current infrastructure while driving new technical projects forward. 
  • Liaising with suppliers and ordering hardware, software and consumables when required 
  • Information security – Security of all IT systems in compliance with our PCI-DSS & ISO27001 Information Security certifications.

About You

  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing technical staff. 
  • Proficient knowledge with network routing, load balancers and switches, Intel based server hardware, TCP/IP, DNS and other Internet related technologies: DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, Firewalls, IPS/IDS. 
  • The ability to support Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, Windows 10-11 desktop platforms to a very good level, Mac OSX is also desirable experience.
  • Hardware support – Laptops, Desktops and Servers. 
  • Experience with network routing, load balancers and switches (Data centre & Office based setups) 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills with strong attention to detail 
  • Web Server running – IIS 8.0/10. 
  • Bonus points for strong understanding of PCI-DSS compliance skills. 
  • Bonus points for strong understanding of ISO27001 compliance. 
  • Plenty of initiative and ability to work in high change environments. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (to technical and business) 
  • Strong team and collaboration skills 
  • Good work and task planning abilities / time management

Salary

Salary £85,000 plus Bonus
